The history

Rodrigo de Guzmán Enríquez, son of Don Pedro de Guzmán and Doña Inés Enríquez, a knight of the Kingdom of Castile invested by King Ferdinand III himself, was born in Toledo in the year of our Lord 1212.
Of immense bravery, his uncle and godfather Don Alonso de Guzmán early on warned him about the dangers of venturing into those territories of the kingdom where the forces of evil still ruled unchecked. While Rodrigo was still a youth, his uncle would tell him the details of the beings that lived there and how to fight them. His tenacity had led him to win great battles, among them that of Jerez in 1231, being one of the forty Toledo knights who accompanied the Infante Alfonso (later crowned Alfonso X), so when one fine day he learned of the kidnapping of the young noblewoman Doña Elodia, of great beauty and high lineage, he did not hesitate for a second to set off in search of his beloved. It was said that the beautiful young woman was being held captive somewhere within the lands of the Christian kingdoms, but that along the long, winding stretch of territory leading there, terrible creatures had to be defeated, for they guarded the treacherous path to the place where she was imprisoned. They were all the beings his uncle had told him about! At last a challenge worthy of Rodrigo, who decided to enter the shadowy lands alone to free his muse, Doña Elodia.
